Reading time: around 1 minute
I’ve never really been good at celebrating my accomplishments, but that’s something I’ve been working on changing over the last few years. One of the things I’m learning in a course I’m currently enrolled in—Shawn Blanc’s “Focus Like a Boss” program—is about the 5 areas of life where we need margin:
Generally, margin in one of these areas often leads to margin in another. So, in looking for ways to celebrate, I figured I might as well look for activities that edify several of these areas.
Luckily, this time of year provides a great option. As has been my annual tradition for the last 3 years, I took a trip last weekend with a few friends to the Adirondacks to shoot photos of the changing fall foliage. It was as restorative as I’d hoped; it fed my emotional well-being, and I can feel my creativity surging, which I think will eventually help create more financial and time margin as a result.
Here are some of my favorite photos that I shot this past weekend:

How do you celebrate your accomplishments in a way that gives you margin in multiple areas of your life? Reply and let me know.

Reading time: around 1 minute Design systems promise 3 main things: efficiency, consistency, and innovation. I always like to add a fourth: relief. If your design system is working well, the work gets easier. You finish it faster. You start to see economies of scale. But relief isn’t something that just happens. It’s there for the taking, but you have to actively choose it. Here’s a scenario that happens often with design system teams I work with. After weeks or months of hard design system...
